It’s taken 35 games, but we finally have our first team relegated for the 2013-2014 season.
With the race in the Barclay’s Premier League seemingly coming down to the final game of the season, and with Catania and Livorno holding on by the barest of margins in the Italian Serie A, we look to Spain for the first team relegated into the second tier of their domestic leagues.
While still having 3 games to play, Real Betis have secured their place in the Segunda Division for the 2014-15 season. The team from Seville have not been able to follow-up on their very successful 2012-2013 where they finished 7th and qualified for Europe. Their defense has not held up as well as it did last year, but the far bigger problem for the verdiblancos has been their offense. Hopefully their strike force will improve next season and give them a chance of coming right back up.
