Yeah, we at Draftsoccer can see the standings, and we can see that there are a number of teams close at the top of the Barclay’s Premier League. But we simply don’t think many of them have a realistic shot at the title. Only 2 do.
Who are they? Chelsea and Manchester City. And that’s it.
Ok, Gunners fans, don’t get too angry at us. You’re having a great season, rebounding well after losing your two biggest names over the past couple of years. The Ozil signing was great, and if the youth of Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs, etc can keep strong then you’ll be in Europe. However, your squad isn’t deep enough, and your upcoming schedule is brutal. Our estimate right now: 3rd. Your defense will keep you in the top 3.
Now, Liverpudlians. We’ve got you pegged for 4th place. Hey, it’s still Champions League qualifying, so that’s a great achievement. You are just too inconsistent, rely too much on a couple of players, and you just don’t seem to be able to attract the big names to the club. The one positive, in a way, is that you can pretty much just focus on the EPL (and maybe the FA Cup, let’s see), so that will help. We still think: 4th.
The others? Well, Spurs just can’t seem to beat the top of the table, so we see them fighting for a Europa spot. Everton are playing great under new management, and will likely be the biggest competition for Spurs based on current performance. Manchester United? Hmm, where do we start! We still think they can get things turned around, but the best they’ll do is 5th.
Chelsea and Man City just have too much depth, too much confidence, and amazing home form. Our bet: Manchester City by a point.
