It’s a mixed weekend of games this weekend with both league games and FA Cup games.

Starting in the league, Chelsea battled Tottenham Hotspur to an even 0-0 score at the half. However, they turned up the pressure at home in the second half with a couple of goals in the space of a few minutes, one a penalty resulting in Spurs going down to 10-men. After that it was pretty easy sailing for the blues, ending up with a 4-0 win.

Up in the midlands, Manchester United were away at West Brom in a game very important to both teams. West Brom, struggling to stay out of the drop-zone looked weak against a resurgent Red Devils team that looks hungry for goals and a much needed win. This came through 3 goals, the first a nicely timed free-kick header from Phil Jones, followed by nice finishes from Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck. Moyes strategically took Robin van Persie off in the second half before he got his 2nd yellow card, but the result wasn’t ever going to be in doubt no matter who was left on the pitch at the end of the game.

At the bottom of the table, Fulham visited south Wales to take on Cardiff City in a game that could go a long way to sealing the fate for one of these teams. In front of nearly 27,000 fans at the Cardiff City Stadium, the home team beat a weak visiting Fulham side, potentially writing the final chapter in their long run in the Premier League. For Cardiff, they are by no means safe, but certainly safe-R.

Over in the cup, Arsenal dominated Everton at the Emirates so give them a date at Wembley in April.
